About Us

Founded on love. Run with reverence.

The Last Journey Home was born from our own goodbye — and a quiet promise that no family in Austin should ever face that moment alone.

Our story

When we lost our golden retriever, Juniper, we were stunned by how cold and transactional pet aftercare could feel. We knew our community deserved something gentler — a place that recognized pets as the family members they are.

So we founded it. A family-owned aftercare service rooted in Austin, where every step is handled by the same trained team — not handed off, not outsourced.

We are a member of the International Association of Pet Cemeteries & Crematories (IAOPCC) and operate to the strictest standards of identification, dignity, and environmental responsibility.

How It Works

Five steps, one continuous hand of care

  1. 1 · Reach out

Call or message us, day or night. We'll listen, answer questions, and arrange a time that feels right — no rush, no scripts.

  2. 2 · Gentle pickup

We come to your home or veterinary clinic in an unmarked vehicle. Your pet is wrapped in a soft blanket and carried with care.

  3. 3 · Respectful cremation

Your pet is given a private or communal cremation — never co-mingled without your consent. Every step is tracked with full chain-of-custody from pickup through return.

  4. 4 · A loving return

Within 3–5 days, your pet returns to you in the urn you've chosen, along with a clay paw print and any keepsakes you've selected.

  5. 5 · Continued care

We follow up with grief support resources and remain available for anything you may need — long after the service.

When you're ready, we're here.

There is no wrong time to call. Our care line is always open.
